LUMS SSE is the first private research school for science and engineering in Pakistan. Initiated in 2004 for launch in 2008, it promises to be a completely new model for the country. The initial target of the project was to raise $25 million which later was raised to $125 million of which $75 million was to go to the SSE's endowment fund. It aims to be a successful research university model for Pakistan and the region of South East Asia; perhaps an MIT, Stanford or a Caltech for Pakistan. FASTNCA Trip to EgyptA group of 15 students from National College of Arts went on a trip to explore Egypt with Batool Zahra Rizvi(Faculty member of NCA) on 26th July'08 till 8th August'08. They visited various places like Pyramids, Sphinx, Mummification Museums, Perfume Palace, Nile Cruises, Mosques, Alexandria Library and beaches etc. It was a 14 day adventurous trip that covered Cairo, Alexandria and Sharm al Sheikh. LSE Third Intra Lahore School MUNAfter the notable success of the first two intra Lahore School Model United Nations, the 3rd Lahore School Model United Nations was held in LSE, Burki campus on the 25th and 26th of July, 2008 by the Lahore School of Economics Association of Debaters (LSEAD). The LSMUN spanned over a period of 2 days, which included four sessions. There were over 40 candidates representing countries from Asia to Africa. Amongst those who walked away with the honorary and best delegates awards: Aitzaz Sheikh, Usman Sher and Hamza Nasir are worth mentioning. Read more...
